The mascara you wear matters because if it does not come off easily, you will be tugging on the delicate skin around your eye too much. Which can lead to early wrinkles.
I would say mascara was the one thing I would wear as a teenager & when I was in University. This was when I wore the Covergirl mascara. This mascara does come off easily and works great.
But since I have gotten pickier about the products I use, I then switched to a "cleaner" mascara. That's when I started to have a more challenging time taking off my mascara. I would have to use an oil-based make-up remover which is not a good option to prevent acne.
So for the past 2 years, I haven't been wearing mascara that often because it was just a pain in my butt to remove & apply. It always made a mess no matter how careful I was.
The good news is I finally found a mascara that works comes off easily (with my cleanser from Bioderma), and the ingredients are to my standards!!
Here are a few of the mascaras I've tried and that I DO NOT like:
Beautycounter Volumizing Mascara
This was their old formula; they have not tried their new one
The new version is called: Think Big All-in-One Mascara (~CAD $38)
W3LL PEOPLE - Expressionist Volumizing Mascara (~CAD $25)
Did like this one for a while, but it was too messy/flaky to apply and also not the easiest to take off
Jane Iredale - BeyondLash Volumizing Mascara (~CAD $38)
it is WAY TOO messy & too hard to get it all off
I would wake up in the morning with more "eye gunk" and some remaining mascara which is not good. You want your face clean before bed.
Jane Iredale - Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara (~CAD $42)
I did love the brush on this one, BUT after a while, the brush started to flake
It was also a lot of work to make sure it was all removed
So what mascara do I love?
I love the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions™ Mascara (~CAD $32)
First off, it applies well with minimal mess, if any at all! (I was stunned!)
And then, for the most important part; it's so easy to remove
To remove the mascara, you simply can rise off with water using a gentle downward-sweeping motion. And then I use my cleanser.
Honestly, my eyes have never been happier after a night's sleep.
They have a US and CAD site, and the product is also vegan & cruelty-free + a "clean" non-toxic option.
Colour options: black, brown, or blue
I share this with you, so you don't end up trying a bunch of clean beauty mascaras that don't work or leave you rubbing your face too much. No one wants premature aging!! So happy I can wear mascara again because before, I would avoid applying it unless I needed to for some reason.
If you are in a pinch & need to buy mascara a the drug store, I recommend getting the COVERGIRL Lash Blast Volume Mascara (not the waterproof one). This one works well, plus it comes off with a good cleanser. They do now also have Lash Blasy Clean Mascara which is vegan & a "cleaner" option, but I have personally not tried it myself.
Let me know in the comments what your favourite mascara is :)
